Ferris wheel cupcake holder
I saw a Ferris wheel cupcake holder on one of those flash sale websites a couple of months ago, and fell in L. O. V. E., but when I clicked on the link, the offer was expired. That's probably a good thing, because that cute little piece of turning metal cost a whopping $72 - on a flash sale website!
I then googled and found the Ferris Wheel Cupcake Holder by Horchow on houzz for $75. For the lack of having nothing better to do with $100 than buy and ship it {um, hello, mom of four girls here!}, I was forced into a cooling off period. Except I didn't cool off. In fact, I started noticing the Ferris wheel - as a cupcake holder and a graphic image - popping up on quite a few party planning places on the web. Blogs, pinterest, even Martha Stewart, you name the online party supplies place and the Ferris wheel, in all of it's nostalgic, perfect for a vintage party glory, has been featured there in the last 30 days.
Days turned into weeks, and THEN one magical afternoon, I spy - tucked high on a shelf in a local consignment shop - a Ferris wheel candle holder. For just $8.50. Black metal. Nothing a few coats of primer and glossy white spray paint couldn't make PRETTY! Now - for about one fifth of what it would have cost me to ship the one every event planner worth her weight in cupcakes will be using - I am the giddy new owner of a fabulous, looking more like an actual mini Ferris wheel than it's Horchow sibling, Ferris wheel cupcake holder! One that I will show you on here as soon as I use it this weekend in the COUNTY FAIR Kindergarten graduation Party that I am doing this weekend! Think HORSE and PONY rides, BEAN BAG toss, TUG o' WAR, VINTAGE PHOTO BOOTH PROPS, CUPCAKES, POPCORN, OLD FASHIONED CANDY and MORE!!! It's sure to be a blue ribbon design!
Into what party theme would you/could you incorporate a Ferris wheel cupcake holder - or just a Ferris wheel image into this year?!

Christmas in July - a Ladies' Sip 'n' Shop
I am in the process of planning one of the most exciting events EVER.
What started out as an idea I shared with my friend, Trish, to host
a ladies' night out Christmas in July event that would feature the best
local independent artisans and business owners and raise money for
local non-profits, turned into a MORNING Sip 'n' Shop - an idea
born from a TWO MINUTE brainstorming session between me and
Nikki, the owner of PowerHouse Gym.

born from a TWO MINUTE brainstorming session between me and
Nikki, the owner of PowerHouse Gym.
Excited by the event's concept - Nikki** generously offered us the new 4,000 sq foot EVENT room in the Webster, MA POWERHOUSE GYM facility and the spaces surrounding it. This room looks more like a nightclub - with a stage and top of the line lighting and sound system, then a room in a gym, but I saw with my own eyes, one of the Sh'BAM fitness classes that attract more than 100 PEOPLE a session in progress and I can see why it is so popular! Held in the "dark" with the instructors on stage wearing headsets, nary a mirror to be found, women danced, strutted and SWEATED their way to healthier versions of themselves and looked like they were ENJOYING IT! I can't wait to replace my hip so I can join the fun!
Back to Trish I went with the modified plans - a morning event, complete with complimentary beverages and holiday sweets, would be easier and more appealing for the working (instead of heading home then back out on a weeknight) and SAH (getting dressed up AFTER a full day in the sun with the kids) moms that will be attending, as well as the small business owners and artisans that will be setting up and breaking down their displays - how fabulous to be over and done with work by noon on a summer weekend day?!
Trish was on board as well, and will be photographing the vendors in June - three of their feature items and/or the vendors themselves - providing professional proofs for their portfolios/marketing material as well as ours! After years of shopping small and online businesses - I can not stress enough to vendors the IMPORTANCE of having professional photographs. So I am going to show them, by including this professional photo shoot and proofs in the vendor package!
The rest of the details are taking shape, and I will keep you all updated as we go!!
Stay tuned...
